G.L.A.D.E.S: FIU's Undergraduate Ecology Club

GLADES (Growth of Leadership Academics and Diversity in Ecological Sciences) was created in 2013 to create opportunities for FIU undergraduate students to become involved with ecological sciences through workshops, lecture series, community service and outdoor events. Currently, >90% of GLADES members are from under-represented minorities.
In 2015, within 2 years of forming, FIU's GLADES beat 95 similar groups from other institutions to be named the Ecological Society of America's (ESA) Chapter of the Year! This was an incredible achievement for any institutional group, however given it's relative novelty in South Florida this represents an amazing accomplishment by a truly outstanding group of students.
